Executive Summary

A group of entrepreneurs led by Mr Gorantla Punnaiah Choudhary, Mr. Kandimalla Srinivasa Rao and few other entrepreneurs, Mr Samineni Koteswara Rao, Mr Maddali Giridhara Rao and Mr V. Balaramakrishnaiah all of them closely associated with Textile Industry have conceived and are promoting the Guntur Textile Park.

The proposed Textile Park is primarily to boost the growing Textile industry in Andhra Pradesh region. The technical configuration of the project is targeted to meet international standards of quality and service. With this in view Andhra Pradesh Spinning Mills Association has proposed to set up a Textile Park Village Gopalavari Palem, Mandal: Chilakaluripet Guntur region of Andhra Pradesh. Guntur Textile Park has also retained Technopak Advisors as their Project Management Consultants for preparing Detailed Project Report for the proposed Park.

The Park segmentation has been arrived at after detailed discussion with all member entrepreneurs of the Textile Park.

The project has been conceptualised on the basis of providing state-of-the-art-infrastructure and international technology for producing value added products.

Guntur Textile Park is spread across 41.77 acres of land and will have about 22.49 acres of the area as an industrial plot area, 4.96 acres as common infrastructure and common facility area and balance 14.31 acres as open & green space area including roads. This proposed Textile Park will have support infrastructure like:

  • Gate with Security cabin
  • Admin Block
  • Workers Training Centre
  • Products Display Centre
  • Rain Water Harvesting System
  • Common Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP)
  • Fire Fighting Network
  • Electrical transmission and distribution
  • Common Water supply system
  • Telecommunication Network etc.
  • Workers’ Hostel

Guntur Textile Park has identified textile as a growth area in view of India, having the following favourable advantages:

  • Availability of raw material from natural fibres to man-made fibres in sufficient quantity as India is 2nd largest producer of cotton and polyester.
  • Availability of large pool of trained technical manpower from spinning to garmenting
  • Favourable government policies to support Textile & Clothing industry. Textile & Clothing industry contributes about 1/3rd of the total country’s export and has been identified as a major thrust area.
  • Removal of quota for exports to any country.
